LOCK AND CHAIN SOPHOMORE HONORARY
OUR MISSION
We the 122nd class of Lock and Chain commit to exploring innovative ways to sustain our pillars of leadership, service, and tradition. We strive to stay true to our core values of inclusion and awareness by fostering bonds in our community and with each other.
ABOUT US
Lock and Chain is Washington University's oldest Sophomore Honorary.
Lock and Chain was created in 1904 by 6 sophomore men. Since then, the honorary has expanded to 15 members from all different backgrounds, but it still stands by its founding principles-- leadership, service, and tradition.
Students are chosen during the Spring from the freshman class through a highly selective application and interview process. Members are chosen based on academic merit, extracurricular involvement, leadership capabilities and roles, and personal qualities.
Lock and Chain is an active honorary, sponsoring various events throughout the year, including the Sophomore Sizzle, Major-Minor fair, George Washington Week, and Book Sales. Lock and Chain is also dedicated to community engagement and philanthropic programming.
Tradition is important in Lock and Chain - members can be identified on campus by their distinctive green jackets.
Inductees are active their sophomore year, but remain supportive members of the Lock and Chain family for life.
